Digital Technologies

As a STEAM and completely technology enabled school, Regent offers a cutting edge Computing programme that develops algorithmic & computational thinking skills, problem-solving grit and resilience, fosters creativity, and enables students to use a wide array of digital technologies to not only make links between various subjects of the curriculum, but to also enhance, improve and create new outcomes.

At Regent, digital technologies are used to support and challenge all learners. Teachers use technology in bespoke and transformative ways to ensure differentiation & access to the curriculum is effective, foster creativity, support problem-solving & research. Digital technology is also used to support assessment for learning, peer collaboration and authentic audience engagement. We want students to be competent, creative & innovative users of technologies in an ever-changing and evolving world.

We use a variety of high standard technologies that are frequently updated. Besides a BYOD programme, students have access to computers in every class; interactive whiteboards; various educational and multimedia software; digital subscriptions, class sets and banks of iPads & tablets, a digital library with thousands of e-books, apps galore, scores of software, hardware kits and educational tools; printers, scanners, digital and video cameras; and 24x7 high speed Internet; and RIS' Virtual Learning Environment.

Last academic year, Regent students were the only primary students to compete in the world’s first AI golf tournament #ParOne #STEAMathalon for children, where our #TeamClairity tied for “Grittiest Team”.  They had to work with AI to train a robot to play golf!  Also, our #ResilientRockers presented their coded guitars & sung Hound Dog at What Works Being Well KHDA.

Previously, Regent students have come 1st Place in the BSME App Design Competition.  The #VIPRs produced a SMART shoe to help the visually-impaired in the DEWA Robotics Competition and students have participated in hackathons amongst other events.

Stay tuned, because this year, there’s even more exciting things to come.
